Mission/Vision

Universal Ministries Christian Fellowship: The Church For All People

Mission

To minister to the spiritual, physical, and socioeconomic needs of society’s less fortunate – those who are hungry, thirsty, strangers (homeless), sick, and those in prison – and to proclaim the liberating good news everywhere so as to set people free from captivity and oppression by any destructive forces or elements that besiege them; while instructing and empowering them (children, youth and adults) to bond with Christ and positively influence their communities. Our worship of Jesus Christ who instructs us through His Word and the Holy Spirit empowers UMCF to perform its mission.

Beliefs

The body of Christ – His Church is a welcoming church for all peoples of every ethnic origin and socioeconomic status and as such is obligated to consider and attend to their needs. The word of God is not only instructive and gives direction, but is also a lens through which our vision of the world can be corrected.

There is inherent value in every created being that is intended to be a blessing to all who discover it. The Church is specially gifted for this redemptive work.

Vision

We are on a spiritual journey. Our leader and guide is the third person of the Holy Trinity. Under the direction of the Holy Spirit we will fully mature into a Christian community steeped in advocacy and instruction for the un-churched and marginalized youth of the CSRA that nurtures and tends to their spiritual, psychological, educational, political, and socioeconomic needs. At its zenith UMCF will empower its target audience to appropriate the good news and themselves becoming Disciples of Christ and heralds of His gospel. The congregation’s multicultural composition will inform its caring, compassion and hospitality; while its commitment to Discipleship will be demonstrated by the creation of a safe space for people to share their problems and thoughts about a biblical text and most of all by Christian familial love. We will then become a Christian community that embraces Jesus’ mission statement as our own.
